Naima began writing and performing Daisy Turner’s life story. She has traveled throughout New England as a speaker/ presenter moving audiences aged 4-100 with her works of the Daisy Turner story, through Vermont Humanities, Interfaith communities, Historical Societies, Museums and schools. With a grant received from the Vermont Humanities Council, Naima placed a copy of the book Daisy and the Doll in all Windham County School Libraries, and traveled throughout West Africa to research the roots of the Turner family.
She has continued to research and write about the Turner Family, and is currently engaged with the National Parks Services, Underground Railroad Network To Freedom Program with regard to the Turner Family story, something we’ll all hear more about after the performance.

Naima has performed her poetry throughout New England New York and the Caribbean. She has just completed her first non fiction work Elbow Dreams-- The Story of a Black Girl Growing Up In Vermont During The Turbulent 1960s, as well as a novella, Missz’ Grace Lives Here. She has countless books of poetry and looks forward to publishing these writings of 35 yrs. The Poet and Writer Self Published works coming soon. Will be available on Amazon. |
